Who's Up For Some Cereal?

We received the go-ahead to start cereal from Allie's pedi at her 4 month appointment but were a little leary of starting so early since the AAP recommends waiting until 6 months. We were also super busy at the time and wanted to wait until we'd be able to get into a consistant routine. In the last few weeks we noticed her staring us down while we eat and reaching for our food so we figured she could handle it. We decided to start the cereal just shy of 5 months old and she loves it! She was a little bit iffy at first but now gobbles it down and opens her mouth for more! I can't believe she's getting so big!

The first bite. She wanted to help hold the spoon.

The next bite. Not too sure about the taste.

Hey, this stuff's pretty good!

Oh wait, I take that back. This stuff is nasty!

Do I really have to keep eating this stuff Mom?

What do you mean there's something on my face?

Allie's Baptism

Allie was baptized on Sunday, April 19th with her cousins, Cameron, Carson & Cole. It was a very special day for all of us. We had family come in from Texas, North Carolina and Pennsylvania to celebrate with us! It must have been a truly special day because even Uncle Bill went to church!

Allie was baptized by Fr. Steve Kolde, who also married us back in 2007. We were thrilled to have him be a part of our continued growth as a family. Perhaps one of the most special details of the day was Allie's dress. Nick's Aunt Janice made Allie's baptismal gown out of my wedding dress. It turned out better than I could have ever dreamed and we got so many compliments on it. I'm so glad that I now have a family heirloom rather than an old wedding dress in a box.

All in all, it was a great day with family and friends and we thank you all for celebrating with us! These are the only pics I have so if anyone has more, can you please send them to me?

Victoria's Wedding Shower

Kelsey and I hosted a wedding shower for our brother's fiance, Victoria, on Saturday. She came all the way from Texas for the shower and I think everyone had a pretty good time. I don't have a ton of pictures yet but here are those that I do have. We're so excited for her to officially join the family on May 23rd!

The set-up.

The gifts.

Catching up on Some Reading

Allie needed some new toys on her activity mat the other day so I attached these soft books for her. It looked like she was really reading them! She kept turning the pages and "talking." It was pretty cute. Maybe we have a future teacher on our hands?

We've Been Busy

We've had a busy couple of weeks! It's taken me awhile to get everything organized but I'm hoping to get a couple of new posts up soon!

Rub a dub dub, I've got a new tub!

Up until now, I've been taking Allie in the shower with me rather than giving her baths. It is much easier that way and doesn't make a mess. She's started to reach out and try to grab the water from the shower head lately, making me think that she might be missing out on the whole playing in the bath experience. I looked around online and found some great recommendations for this inflatable duck tub. We tried it out the other night and I don't think she knows quite what to think:

By the end of her baths, she usually just ends up laying sideways in the tub, using the side as a pillow. Maybe she thinks it's a hot tub? I'm hoping she'll get more "into" bath time soon so that she can start playing with the trillions of bath toys we own.

Fun Filled Easter

Allie seems to have had a wonderful 1st Easter. We went to church this morning and came home to find that the Easter Bunny had left Allie a basket filled with goodies! She got some new hairbows, pink crocs, a raspberry teether and some candy to share with Mommy and Daddy. She was very intrigued by the basket and its contents but seemed to be pleased.

Daddy and Mommy bought Allie a swing to hang in the backyard for Easter. We went to Ma & Pa's house for dinner so we took the swing with us to try out on their swingset. Allie loved it! She was laughing, smiling and blowing raspberries the whole time! I can't wait to hang it up in our yard so she can swing everyday.

All in all, it was a great Easter!

The Cutest Easter Bunny On The Block

The Easter Bunny came early to our house this year and was definitely the cutest bunny I'd ever seen!

Happy Easter everyone!

Hippity, Hoppity Easter's On It's Way!

Nick and I took Allie to the kids Easter party at his union hall on Saturday. She got to meet the Easter Bunny but we skipped the egg hunt. Maybe next year. It was a cute party and fun to see all of the little kids dressed up in their Easter clothes. Here are some pics of the Alligator enjoying the party.

She wasn't too impressed with the Easter Bunny so I may still take her to the mall sometime this week to see if we can catch a smile.

Can you see why everyone says she looks like her Dad?
