Baby Crack

I was reading online that a good teething remedy is to give babies frozen pieces of fruit in a mesh feeder to chew on. As I was making pureed peaches this week for Allie's next food, I decided to save some slices to freeze. She was kind of fussy so I decided to try it. OMG it was like baby crack! She couldn't get enough of it and kept getting this big smile on her face.

We also started "Puffs" this week with her. They're basically these little pieces of flavored cereal, similar to cheerios, but they melt in the babies mouth. She loves those too! She hasn't mastered the pincher grip yet so I have to put them in her mouth. If I'm moving too slowly, she starts whining and sits there with her mouth wide open, begging for more. I think she may have gotten her father's addictive personality, haha.

Why Do We Buy Toys Again?

I have no idea why we spend money on toys. It seems that Allie's favorite toys as of late have been an empty water bottle, an old magazine and now, the empty diaper box. I guess kids are easily amused.

Success!

I finally got a picture of Allie's new teeth! It's not a very good one, but it's a picture of the teeth nonetheless. The one on the left is almost all the way in but the one on the right still has a little bit further to go. I'll keep working on getting a better picture.

She's Just So Cute!

She melts our hearts a little more each day. She refuses to show her new teeth in pictures, but is still pretty cute.

Allie Phone Home

Nick piled a bunch of Allie's toys on her this weekend as she was relaxing in her boppy. It reminded me of that scene in ET where he is hiding in the closet amongst all of the dolls and toys. We might have a little bit too much free time on our hands these days.

She's also learned to hold her own bottle. She doesn't get a bottle very often but when she does, it's nice to have her hold it herself.

I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here

Nick and I have fallen into the horrible habit of watching this terrible show. Allie must have taken note because she seems to have created her own version of being stuck in the jungle.

I'm Free

At Allie's 6-Month appointment, the doctor said it was time to stop swaddling her to sleep. She's doing fairly well with it although we do have some problems with her taking her binky out of her mouth and then crying. Hopefully things will continue to improve! Here she is the first time she slept without being swaddled.

Congrats Mike & Tracy!

Nick's cousin Mike finally married a wonderful girl, Tracy, last weekend. Nick was the best man so it was just Allie and me for most of the day. She refused to nap in the time between the wedding and reception but still managed to stay up until 11pm dancing her little heart out. The wedding and reception were very pretty and so much fun!

Swimming with the Boys

During the garage sale, the natives started getting a little restless so we decided to set up the baby pool in the front yard. The water was super cold so they didn't really like being in the water but did enjoy splashing and throwing the pool toys in the water. Cole was napping so he didn't get to join in the fun.

New Digs

We've been looking for some new toys for Allie as she gets older. I'd had my eye on this Fisher Price Laugh and Learn House but the price tag ($79) was a little steep considering we don't have jobs. Last weekend our street had a garage sale. I noticed one for sale at the neighbor's house and send the negotiator (Nick) down to get the scoop. Next thing I know, he's walking back up the street, carrying the house. He got it for $2.00!!! Allie has really been enjoying it and I can't wait to see her play with it as she becomes more mobile.

Well, it's official. My big brother got married to a fantastic woman on Memorial Day Weekend! We had a wonderful time while in Texas and the wedding could not have been more beautiful.

The rehearsal dinner was on the rooftop deck of the Reata Restaurant. We had perfect weather, great company, and amazing views!

The wedding was at St. Patrick's in downtown Ft. Worth with the reception following at the Ashton Depot. Both were gorgeous locations! It was so good to see so many friends, neighbors and family members that we don't get to see very often. Many of them were meeting Allie for the first time too, making it extra special.

We stayed in the new Omni Hotel Saturday night. Allie really seemed to enjoy the place, especially Mommy's apple juice glass and the giant bed. We did a little swimming Sunday morning before it got too hot. They had an entire area that was only 3 inches deep, perfect for the Alligator! She swam for about an hour and it really tuckered her out. She took a nice long nap.

We spent the day Monday hanging out by the pool with my Dad and Shelley. All in all, it was a fantastic trip. Congratulations Chris and Victoria! We're so glad we were able to spend your special day with you! Best wishes for a long and happy future together!

6 Month Stats

Allie had her 6 month appointment today and all went well. She weighed in at 15lbs 12 oz and measured 25 1/2 inches long. Both of those measurements are in the 50th percentile so we're right on track!

The doctor was not concerned about her continued lack of rolling (although we've been working on it diligently and she's getting so close) because she sits so well and has excellent muscle control. His exact words were that her sitting looks "fantastic" and gives him "no reason to believe that the lack of rolling is due to anything other than non-interest." That was good to hear.

He suggested going cold turkey in dropping the swaddle blanket. He said it will be a rough week but that she will eventually learn to sleep without it. Oh boy, if her sleeping now is not "rough," I don't even want to think about what a "rough week" entails.

She got three shots and did very well with them. She cried initially but stopped immediately when I let her look at herself in the mirror. I guess she's all girl, through and through!

He said she looks great and is very cute (duh!).
