We had another large snowstorm blow through Cincinnati a few weeks ago. All of the neighborhood kids were outside so we decided to take Allie out when Nick got home from work. It was pretty much a disaster. She has made it very clear that she HATES the snow. Oh well, maybe next year she'll be more into it.

Allie to the Rescue!
A few days ago, I made a cape for Allie out of one of her blankets. She LOVED it and decided that she had to wear the cape the entire day. She ate in the cape. She played in the cape. We read books in the cape. I finally drew the line at napping with a blanket tied around her neck and she was not happy about that decision. As soon as she woke up, the cape went back on. Thank goodness the cape obsession lasted a whopping 1 day. I can only imagine the looks I would have gotten at the grocery store with a blanket tied around my kid's neck.

No Pictures Please
My best friend, Beth, came to visit us from New York recently. We spent a day shopping at the new outlet mall near my house. Allie was thrilled with the experience...especially when we made her try on the sunglasses. We're very mature, I swear.
Off to the Races
Nick and Allie's favorite game is to race "bikes" through the house. Allie always chooses the orange bike, leaving Nick with the Dora car. The kid's not dumb. She knows that the bike sits higher off the ground so she can go faster. They start in the living room and race down the hallway and back. I'm pretty sure Allie is undefeated in the bike races at this point.
Sometimes, she prefers Nick just to chase her. She laughs and laughs as he crawls after her while she's riding her bike. It's the sweetest sound! She gets mad when he won't let her ride her bike in the bathroom but always seems to patch things up with him quickly. She truly loves her Daddy!

15 Month Stats
We had Allie's 15 month check up yesterday and it went well for the most part. Allie screamed like crazy through most of it, which is totally unusual for her. She's getting her molars so she's been rather grumpy lately and took it out on the nurses, I guess.
She weighed in at 20lbs 14 oz (20%) and was somewhere between 31 and 32 inches tall (75%). I have no idea what her head measured because she screamed and tried to throw herself to the floor as they measured so I missed the number.
Dr. Love Chunks said she looked great and was very smart for her age. He wasn't worried about her vegetarian tendencies and said we should be happy that she loves her fruits and veggies!
We decided to have her tested for food allergies due to some eczema on her belly and a horrible diaper rash that comes and goes quickly. I took her for the blood draw today. We're using this less accurate test as a starting point before having the skin prick test done when she turns 2.
We're also being scheduled with a plastic surgeon for an evaluation of a Spock-like ridge on Allie's forehead. While Dr. Love Chunks and I both think it is nothing, he wants to have it checked to make sure that the bones comprising her skull are fusing correctly. He said that if there is indeed a problem, the window to fix it is limited so it was better to have it checked now than to take the wait and see approach. I'm waiting for the plastic surgeon's office to call to schedule.
Other than that, our little girl is perfectly healthy!
This is a picture from her 1 year pics that finally came in the mail this week. She looks so adorable!

Hats, Hats, Hats
Allie has developed a new obsession with hats. Not just any hat. It has to be Nick's Cincinnati Reds fitted hat. She wears it all around the house and has decided that she just can not possibly eat unless she has that hat on her head. If only she loved her winter hat this much...

Contemplation
Allie has decided that the only thing she will eat at restaurants is shredded cheese. She is a total cheese-aholic. We get lots of funny looks from the waitresses when we order a cup of shredded cheese, but Allie loves it and makes for a cheap date. Here's a picture of her at brunch contemplating how she got that piece of cheese up her nose.
