The Weir Family Reunion

Nick and I spent this past weekend at the Weir Family Reunion at Shadywood Farm in Pennsylvania. Kelsey and Marshall drove to the nasty 'Nati on Thursday and we all drove over together Friday morning. They spent most of the drive trying to give little Neptune a real name but we were unable to come to a conclusion. Naming a kid is HARD! We were able to pick a new nickname for Chris based on the baby book. He will now be referred to as Gaynor, which means "son of a fair skinned man." If you've seen Big Ed, this nickname is very appropriate for his son, although he seems to have gotten somewhat of a tan recently!

Upon arriving at the farm were greeted by nearly the entire family! The last time we saw many of them was at our wedding almost a year ago so it was definitely good to see everyone again. Shelley, Aunt Laura and Uncle Pierre were unable to make the trip and were definitely missed. Hopefully we'll see you guys next year!

Throughout the weekend, I discovered that my new favorite place is the pool. It feels so good to be weightless and cool as opposed to carrying around 20 extra pounds and being hot and sweaty. The pool is like heaven! I seriously think I spent an average of 5-7 hours in the pool each day that we were there. If our backyard was even close to being level, I would have had the contractor there installing the pool when we returned...it was that great.

The boys had a wild badminton extravaganza before joining the girls in pool. Let's just say that their hopes for making the 2012 Olympic Badminton Team may be what some might call a "pipe dream."
Neptune's wardrobe expanded greatly while we were there as well. Uncle Chris and Aunt Victoria showered her with adorable clothes and toys and the softest blanket ever. I kept asking Nick if I could open it and he had to keep reminding me that it's for Neptune, not me. There's also a special bib to remind her that she loves her Uncle Chris.

Nana Shell and Grandpappy Ed (haha, we're still working on a name for him) got the cutest little outfit that says "Sweet Heart" on the butt and has a matching bib. They also got Neptune her 1st soccer ball!!!! YAY, I'm so excited! Nothing like starting them in training early! Maybe she follow in the footsteps of her Daddy, Uncle Chris and Uncle Marshall and shoot for the Olympic Team someday! Hopefully she'll have better luck and maybe more coordination than they have demonstrated at Badminton.
A big thanks goes out to Grandma Weir for hosting such a fabulous weekend for all of us. We had a great time with the Weir family and are looking forward to Reunion '09. And, next year there will DEFINITELY be t-shirts!
