The doctor's appointment yesterday went fairly well. Our little "Tune" (short for Neptune of course) is looking good and growing like a weed. The ultrasound results look normal and we got to hear her heartbeat for about 5 seconds. I've been having some trouble with swelling in my feet so the doctor said to cut back on the sodium. We'll give that a whirl and see how it goes.
The downside is that we're getting very frustrated with our doctor's office, and the doctor we saw today in particular. They almost seem annoyed by our questions (maybe 1 or 2 per visit, it's not like we come in with a novel) and tend to brush off any concerns we have while making us feel totally stupid for being concerned at all. Yesterday's doc, was horrible. He didn't introduce himself, touched my stomach for about 2 seconds and listened to the heartbeat for less than 5 seconds. I felt like screaming, "I understand that you hear these heartbeats all day long, but this is our BABY, our everything. We look forward to these appointments so even if you don't want to hear it, we'd like to listen for a little longer if that's okay!" We had to ASK him for the results of the ultrasound to which he flipped pages in my chart and said, "everything is in the normal range." I don't feel like I should have to ASK for test results. I'm just frustrated and will probably be finding another doc for our next baby.
On a good note, I got my first official "Mommy Do" hairdo last night. I had 10 inches cut off and they are going to donate it to Locks of Love for me. It's pretty short but will be much nicer for the summer.

The Wardrobe Begins
I'm really hoping that Neptune will be far more stylish than her mother or father. I'm just not that into clothes or shoes and never really have been. I do, however, have a weakness for all of those ADORABLE baby clothes out there. I'm seriously going to have to hold myself back!
Little Neptune is already starting quite the wardrobe. Good thing we decided to put her in the room with the bigger closet! She's going to be one stylin' little girl!

Aunt Holli and Uncle Brian bought Neptune the adorable pink outfit the day we found out she was a girl. It's so stinkin' cute and says "Peace, Love, Baby" on the back, reminding me a little bit of Nick's, somewhat burried but still in there somewhere, "hippie side." I see some serious Father-Daughter bonding going on in this outfit as Nick tells Neptune all about his adventures out West.
Aunt Kelsey and Uncle Marshall bought Neptune the Winnie the Pooh onesies and socks along with her very first hairbows! I'm sure there will be MANY more bows to follow, as we all know I'm a sucker for little girls in bows. I can't wait to put one of those little bows on her adorable little head when she gets here!
I bought the Red's onesises for Nick for Father's Day before we knew she is a girl. I think they're appropriate for a girl or a boy so we'll be keeping them for her first trip to the ballpark next Spring. Now all she needs is a cute red bow so people know she's not a boy and maybe a little glove to catch foul balls with (I kid, I kid, except for the bow part)!
Hopefully her Aunts and cousins will keep her on the right fashion track as she grows up. As the rest of us get older, we may have to rely on cousin Loren to teach her what clothes are cool!

SuperTunia
Since finding out that Neptune is a girl, many people have started calling her Neptunia and she's become one popular little girl. We came home yesterday afternoon to find this arrangement sitting on our front porch. 
The flower is called the "Supertunia." We obviously think that our little Neptunia is super but apparently so does the rest of the world! Pa (Nick's Dad) found the flowers while out shopping yesterday and had to get them for our very own SuperTunia. It was so cute! I can't wait to plant them and think of little Neptunia every time I look at them!

Daddy's Girl
Neptune is going to be a total Daddy's girl, I can already tell. Monday afternoon, I was starting to get nervous because she hadn't really been moving around too much. Nick called about 2pm and suddenly it was like there was a disco in my belly. She was moving and kicking and just plain trying to get attention. It's like she was trying to tell her Daddy hello. As soon as I hung up, she calmed back down to a more office-appropriate activity level.
After work, I was relaxing on the couch while Nick was playing in his golf league. She pretty quiet and seemed to be relaxing right along with me. I swear, the second Nick walked in the house and started talking, she was jumping for joy and dancing all around again. She was so active that Nick was actually able to feel her kick multiple times. It was so cute to see his face when he would feel the same kick on the outside that I was feeling on the inside. There's just something about his voice that makes her go crazy with excitement.
She's totally going to be that kid that goes running to the door screaming "Daddy's home" when he walks in from work in the evenings. Then again, Nick might be the one running through the door screaming "Daddy's home" eager to see her. They'll be two peas in a pod and I can't wait to see them together!

Decisions, Decisions
It sure seems like all we've had to do since finding out that Neptune is a girl is make decision after decision. We're slowly wading through all of the various choices and can only hope we're making the correct ones for her. Welcome to parenthood, I guess.
We spent Sunday creating our baby registry. "Fun" is not necessarily the word I would use to describe this experience. I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable about baby gear and thought we would be in and out in no time. Nearly 4 hours later, my feet were huge, Nick and I were both cranky and we started randomly scanning every item in sight just so we could leave. We ended up doing fairly well but still have some major gaps to fill and some items to narrow down or delete. Thank goodness Babies R Us lets you edit your registry online.
We did, finally, decide on furniture for little Neptune. We're going to go with the Stanley Young America Built to Grow crib and the seven drawer dresser, both in white.
We debated going with the Expresso color that almost looks black because it matched the bedding so well, but ultimately thought that the white would be more suitable for a girl throughout her childhood. The Stanley furniture seemed to be a lot more sturdy than other brands we looked at. They are a well-known brand that has been around for years which should enable us to add more pieces in the future should we need to, and they are built in the USA which makes Nick happy. The crib converts into a toddler bed and then to a full size bed. Little Neputne better LOVE this furniture since it will be hers until she leaves for college! Awww, I get all sappy just looking at the pictures!
Perhaps the biggest decision still on the table is the matter of ridding Neptune of her beloved nickname by picking out a real name for our daughter. This has proved to be a lot harder than we thought. We're pretty set on the middle name being Jayne, after my Mom, but first names are a whole other story. I had a list of names that I liked, all of which have been refused by Nick. The names he likes I'm generally not a fan of (I mean, seriously, Althea???). It seems that every name has some sort of association to one of us or has already been used by friends or family. We're in big trouble in the name department I'm afraid. We'll probably be leaving the hospital with Baby Girl Bryant come November.
I suppose we'd better get busy on some of these decisions. Time is flying!

It's a GIRL!!!!!
We had our big ultrasound yesterday and as far as we know, the baby looks great! Nick watched the tech type in her report and said that she put "normal" under all of the categories so that is definitely good news. We see the doctor in 2 weeks to discuss the results of the ultrasound and check up on the baby again.
The other news from the ultrasound is that it appears that the baby is a GIRL! That's right folks, get your hairbows and pretty dresses ready! Nick and I were both convinced that it was a boy so we were totally shocked when it went the other way. It seems like everyone thought it was going to be a boy except Nana Shell, Victoria and some guy, Jeff, that I work with. Looks like you three should play the lottery!
We're so excited to finally get the nursery planning underway and start choosing names. We're pretty far apart on the name front so that could take awhile.
Here are the pics from the ultrasound. Two of them are good and the other two kind of make her look like a dinosaur - the cutest darn dinosaur on the planet of course!
We can't wait to meet our DAUGHTER in November and introduce her to all of you guys! Wow...I can't believe we're going to have a daughter.

The Decor
Anyone that has visited our house knows that Nick and I are NOT decorators. We have quite possibly the ugliest couches known to man and have a total of 3 pictures or decorations hanging on the wall in the entire house. The rest of the walls are painted but totally bare. We joke that our "style" is simple functionality. Decorating is just not one of my strengths. I tend to freak out when I'm shopping for any sort of decoration and end up getting overwhelmed and leaving the store before I buy anything.
If Neptune turns out to be a boy, we're currently planning on doing a sort of "beach-shack" type feel for the room. This one is a little bit tougher but I think I have a good general idea of what I want. Now it's a matter of finding it! I want to start with white wainscoting around the bottom of the room with the top painted sort of a blue-green color. Nick is not a fan of wainscoting so I still have some convincing to do in that department. I know that I want a surfboard with the baby's name on it to hang over the crib, kind of like one of these:
I want to find various fish, crab and other sea life decorations for the walls and possibly to hang from the ceiling. Maybe also find some life rings or other beachy decorations so it's not all surfing. The trick is, I don't want "baby" sea-life decorations. I want more realistic decorations that will remind you somewhat of a beach-side restaurant in Florida. I'm struggling with the bedding. I know I want some sort of stripe in shades of blue and green but haven't found the perfect one yet. I guess the search continues!
Keep us in your prayers on Monday as we have our ultrasound. We don't care if it's a Neptune or a Neptunia, as long as it's healthy!
I am, however, a great copy cat. If I have something visual to work off of, I can make my room very similar. This is my only hope for Neptune's room. I spend countless hours scouring various internet sites looking for the perfect room so that I can copy it. Luckly, I've been able to find a few things that I like with pictures to follow.
