1 Year Down...

Today is mine and Nick's 1st wedding anniversary. I can't believe how quickly time has flown by this year, yet it seems like ages ago that we were planning the wedding. We decided not to do gifts other than the 3D ultrasound we had done on Saturday but are going out to dinner tonight to our favorite romantic spot, Guenther's Steakhouse. We have celebrated just about every anniversary there in the past and thought it would be a great tradition to continue.

So, in honor of our 1st wedding anniversary, I thought I'd list 5 reasons I love my husband!

1) His sense of humor. I swear, he has the strangest sense of humor but it never fails to make me laugh. We can laugh about the stupidest things but always seem to "get" each others' jokes. I don't know what we would do without the laughter that we share.

2) He's a true family-man. My Mom once told me to watch how a guy treats his Mom because that's how he'll treat you one day. If she's right, I picked a great guy! Nick would do anything for his Mom, or just about anyone for that matter. He puts family first, no matter what else is going on. That's not to say that he doesn't have his disagreements with family members, but he knows that in the long run, family is all you have, and makes an effort to forgive and forget. His family is comprised of some of his closest friends and he values those relationships beyond measure.

3) He is great with kids! Nick is a total kid-magnet. They just seem to flock to him. Watching him play with kids just melts my heart. He's gentle, patient and understanding and loves teaching kids new things. He plays football with the neighborhood kids and didn't even freak out when the ball left a dent in the hood of his beloved truck. He's a true kid at heart but isn't a pushover. He's not afraid to discipline one of the kids if they're in the wrong but does it lovingly, not by yelling. He's going to be the best Dad any kid could ask for and I can't wait to see him holding his very own little girl.

4) He does chores. That's right ladies, my man does the laundry AND the dishes on a regular basis without having to be asked! Did I pick a keeper or what???

5) He takes great care of me. I was always fairly independent but now that I'm preggo, I've had to back off on some things. Nick has totally picked up the slack. He's always there to refill my water, cook me dinner, carry heavy things or just make sure I'm comfortable. He's very protective of me and the baby and works very hard to make sure that we have what we need. He lets me watch my goofy TV shows (the he secretly loves but will never admit to), tucks me into bed and lets me steal the covers whenever I want. Who could ask for more?

I love you Nick! It's been a wonderful first year as a married couple and I look forward to many, many more with you!
